Hello everyone,

Bimmer-Tool has displayed the following codes.

1'/E81/2009/Auto / D71N47C0
---------------------------------------------
MOTOR (!) [Engine]
498E Level sensor
452A Info Particle filter System
494A Glow plug system
4DFF Swirl flap actuator, Position control
4E09 Swirl flap, plausibility
4933 "Air to EGR mass flow, plausibility"
----------------------------------------------
----- bimmer-tool 3.7.21 -----

A933 the only code from the list that triggers a dashboard warning light. This error is intermittent. I just replaced a badly leaking crankcase breather pipe, so hoping that will fix it.

I think I can ignore 498E as I have an old school dipstick.

452A is just a message, the DPF is at end of predicted lifespan. My car still regenerates fine even though the DPG has "expired".

494A is described elsewhere as saying there is no glow plug feedback. I have had this error for months without any glow plug issues. Is it urgent to replace the glow plug module?

4DFF and 4E09 are swirl flap related. I ran a smoke test and it looks like the inlet manifold is leaking. The swirl actuator can be controlled (using Bimmer-Tool), so hoping that it can be reused?

I intend to get a garage to fit the manifold I supply. Can anyone recommend where to get a decent manifold? Ebay has them below ÂŁ100. Used parts from ÂŁ60. BMW dealer = ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ.

thanks for looking
John

Darkside Developments would have been perfect for the manifold, but there is a lead time of 4+ weeks. Gutted! I am not sure if I should be driving it so long with the leak. Any opinions?

Also. The dreaded 4933 AIR/EGR Mass plausibility error returned after a mile this morning. The dashboard warning did turn itself off when the engine warmed up. Hope the new manifold will fix this.

thanks
John
