I've just bought a E70 X5 35d which has a body wrap on it.

I quite like the wrap, but it seems insurers do not. Spoken to a couple of insurers who just straight decline anything to do with vinyl wraps. Apparently it's a big problem at the moment and underwriters are shutting down on it. Even Keith Michaels who claim to specialise in it are going to change their website.

Admiral are quoting about £300 more than not declaring the wrap (£670 with vs £370) without.

The colour change is all declared with the DVLA, thinking of calling Admiral and just going with that but wondered if anyone had any experience in getting insurance, not really interested in the bells and whistle around legal and courtesy cars etc.

I'm 38, 20yrs driving, no points, 13+ yrs no claims (it's 20 but I don't have all the paperwork).

Hi JohnGlos, what's your postcode (maybe PM me) - we might be able to help? The wrap itself isn't an issue but insurers are now wanting a tracker fitted on X5's in certain postcodes.

best,
Nick
