I used to have my old e36 insured with:

Lancaster Insurance | Classic Car Insurance | General Insurance

I too was having issues insuring my 330 Ci, some companies wanted over 400 quid, went back to Lancaster and last renewal was 295 fully comp 350 excess, no points, post code RG22, age.......old git (51)
Thanks for the linky. Unfortunately they were closed when I tried to call them so spent 20 mins filling out the online form only to be told at the end that I have to call them! :(

I'll have to check back with them tomorrow.

Much appreciated though.

The 530d Auto is quite an expensive car to insure for some reason (it's about £400 more than my 535i Sport) and that's without any accidents, claims or convictions...

Your accident may have just priced you out - usually it's tough to find much better than compare the meerkat etc. so if you've already tried specialists like Adrian Flux, then it's the push bike for you...

...or worse, a French car! :D

Hi Johann,

I hope you get through, it's always worth a try. I have protected NC as well, plus I tell them the car is standard. I decline the breakdown cover as I have personal cover with the RAC, this then covers my 2 motorbikes :D

Try Adrian Flux - They're not on insurance comparison websites and were at least £1000 cheaper than most with my previous car :thumbsup

That's the way it's getting now mate - especially for group 16+ cars (in a city etc.). Still getting reports from the 40 plusser's that insurance is cheap though. :thumbsup

At the rsik of being flamed for this is there another address you can insure the car at?
I still insure mine at my parents address... That is where my post goes and my bank statements etc etc so...

But I pay 700 ish on a 330 Clubsport and I'm 22 - I can't understand how your quotes can be that high!

I just got one on a Porsche Boxster S that will be £780 when I'm 23 in march - cheap as chips really

@ jharar

just keep phoning around till you find someone who needs the business, mate
Direct Line quoted me £ 2800 Churchill £ 1800 Swift £ 1250 and I finally got
a policy for £ 550 from a firm by the name of Markerstudy. ( no, I haven't either)
.
[email protected]@cks to age address etc etc . Given the same set of information, how can the
quotes vary so much ? ? ?
IMHO, & as you can see from the above figures , it becomes clear that the larger
Insurance Companies use the same set of calculation formulae as Water Co's,
Electric Co's, Gas Co's, Banks, ISP's, Phone Companies etc etc ....
i.e. the thieving [email protected] make it up as they go along......

So I called Lancaster Insurance/ Class Car Insurance and they pretty much immediately transfered me to their sister company Master Quote BDML. We ran through all the questions etc. and then at the end, he says £375 excess (fair enough) and.... £3,300 premium!?

I paid £2,500 last year with Admiral and it looks like Compare the market is quoting me £1,500 (with £500 excess) through Elephant for this year.

Next, I'll try co-op and direct line.
