To be safe I'm thinking I may buy a battery jumper/booster which I can also use when going camping to power stuff. I don't want to spend much as it will only get used once a year or if the car battery goes dead.
I've seen lots of different ones from 300amps to 1000amps. 300 being ok for a 1.5 litre engine I guess.
So, does anyone know how many amps are actually needed to start a 3 liter M54 engine? I'm thinking 600 may just about do. I'm not expecting this to be my only reserve, I always carry jump leads just in case but it would be useful to not need a donor car and have something to plug other stuff into when out and about, but foremost it needs to be able to crank the BMW over adequately.
Anyone know the minimum number of amps needed to start a M54?
Thanks
