I am still trying to get my warning cog light off on the dash and couple of colleagues have said to try cleaning the shift lock solenoid CONNECTOR , before changing the Solenoids does anyone know how to get to the connector for the SHIFTLOCK can you access it from the centre console or is it around the sump area, cannot seem to find anything on line for a 2.5 auto e46 convertible Thanks

Result got access to the shiftlock solenoid from below the gearshift which was quite easy. Bought a complete set including the shift. £35 from the scrapyard instead of £380 new unit, fitted in one hour and the light is now off so magic , the dealer said a new gearbox and the specialist said it could be the shift lock solenoid so one nil to the specialist. Hope this might help others if they have the same issue.

Hi,

Great news, congrats!

Could I ask which specialist you consulted? I'm based in Essex but looking for a decent transmission specialist.

Thanks
