Completely new to the forum and particularly interested in RFT's v non RFT's and winter driving.

RFT's and non RFT's bear little to a tyres suitability to perform in the snow/ice. A performance summer tyre as fitted to most modern cars are just that.
The big factor would be the fitment of winter tyres which perform best in temperatures below 7C.
