hi

not sure if im in the right chat room but i really need some help.
i have a bmw e90 330d msport lci spec with 114k on the clock.
i had a transmission fault code 4f8a code as gear was slipping from 4th to 5th so, i got the transmission rebuilt with brand new clutches, seals, torque converter, new oil, new filter and pan.

i covered 800 miles and im back to the same issue. under heavy throttle 4th to 5th is slipping again. all other gears are perfect.

im running 280bhp with 630nm.

gearbox is under warranty, but what could the issue be? will xhp help? am i running too much torque?

any advice will help.

yes i will be mid next week. garage is very good. his a one man team. iv used him before and his brilliant. something must have gone wrong this time. but just wanted to know wat else it could be. i got a feeling it may be too much torque.

i either do xhp or remove the map or go back to stock.

you do know it could be a mapping issue, best speak with jason at bwchiptune.sponsor on here, also 630 nm is well inside wat box can handle, but map could be issue with how the torque is delivered.

Hi. just an update.
gearbox is throwing a 4f8a ratio monitoring gearshift 4-5 code.

how is this possible after a full rebuild.
its had new clutches, new seals, new pan and filter.

mechatronic and solenoid valves were tested too.
could it be a solenoid valve for clutch e?

so it had a rebuild and they never replaced the mech etc,,? dont sound right to me,even a service you get them replaced
im sure the mechatronic dont get replaced during a normal service. but the rebuild the clutches and all seals were replaced, including new pan filter. so would it be the solenoid valve for the 4th gear?

so are you saying the mechatronic unit should have been replaced.?

all the seals and gaskets were replaced along with all the clutches and bushes as part of the rebuild.

what could be the possible issue if its still slipping in 4th?

yes thats all been done.

so all the following has been replaced:
new clutches,
new torque converter,
new seals including mechatronic sleeve,
new oil and pan filter,

the only thing that hasnt been changed in the mechatronic unit itself,

but im still getting a 4f8a code? any ideas?

best bet is to get gearbox adaptions read,,then send them to ZF,they will diagnose the fill times and whatever,,,
