just wondering what you guys think on keeping full bmw service history, or should i just service it my self and save myself money?

the inspection is due in 1500miles, what do they do on this, oil change or just a stright forward check over the car?

as your car is getting on for 5 years old now,i think the odd indy stamp in the book wont raise eyebrows.
if you are keeping the car for a few more years then there is no problem with doing your own oil changes, just keep receipts for the oil n filter as proof of you doing it.

if there anything like most main stealers to damn much.go to a good indy.far to much emphasis is put on dealer service history.servicing cars is not rocket science.

peter.
i agree, i dont really like other people touching my car, i do it for a living so would prefere to do it myself but dont think a truck dealer stamp would look right in the book, lol

just wanted to know what you lot thought about it tho, would not having fbmwsh put you off buying the car?

Would do for me, I only like BMW or Indy stamps in the book. I only service a car myself if it's not worth much or it's getting on for 10 years old.
Sometimes you save £200 on a servive and knock £500 off resale.

Consider it carefully.

Just my 2p worth . . . . ;)

not having a fsh wouldnt put me off...if the car is clean why should it put you off? i'd rather the car be clean with no history than limping all over the place with some history...

the main problem that i have is i dont like other people working on my car even if it is just a service.

i looked long and hard to find my car, its 2001 with 80k and full main dealer / bmw specialist service history!

i think this is important as it shows previous owners have not held back when it comes to maintaining the car!

although some people do it all themselves when your actually buying you dont know that, you have to take there word for it, they could have changed the oil/filter just before they sell and never in the past few years?!

however im now going to do yearly oil / filter changes myself as i dont drive a lot of miles!

will still be taking it to my local bmw specialist for its inspection1 in 7000 miles time when its due just to keep the records upto date though which i think is important, and at the end of the day its only going to cost me about £165 so not the end of the world!!

yeah i will, i live by a garage called autotech which is a bmw specialist, they've been servicing my uncles 323i for the past 5years and he swears by them!

and there prices are good, like i said £165 for an inspection1, and thats using top quality castrol edge 5w-40 oil and all bmw genuine parts! so im happy to pay that all day long!
