Hi
Am new member but was following post on and off.

Have a major issue with my BMW x5 e53 3.0d 2006 model with 270000 km.

Always regularly serviced

Yesterday driving in highway at steady 130 km/hour got the following "red alert with arrows both sides" ==> FUEL SYSTEM FAULT followed by LOW OIL PRESSURE.

There was immediate loss of power and engine wouldn't start. Had to be towed off.

Any suggestions PLEASE??

Hi Alan.
Me again.
You mentioned the issue should be on the fuel pump mounted on the engine. Right?

In looking at several videos on the net, I noticed that there is also a fuel pump relay just under the wiper assembly on the passenger side.

Also noticed a fuel pump under the rear passenger seat.

Could my problem be related to either one of these two points or actually engine mounted pump (would hope not....... would be labor intensive and expensive).

Any comments?

Many thanks.

Ciao

If it’s got a fuel pump fault warning then a fault code will be logged so starting point should be a code scan of engine and EKPM. I would think the fuel pump message is referring to the low pressure pump rather than high pressure.
