Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the right place, but hopefully you guys can help.

I have a 523i pre facelift. I have been toying with the idea of getting my car remapped. I believe it increases the bhp and improves fuel consumption. Is there much difference?? Is it worth doing? It costs £200 approx, so I am tempted to do it, but dont want to waste my money.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Cheers.

before you spend your money getting it remaped i would first change the inlet manifold, the 523i is a 525i engine thats restricted with a 520i inlet manifold to 170 bhp ish. the 520 manifold has narrow runners. its done for tax reasons in germany. this also applies to 528 models as well asthey only produce193bhp. compared to the 192 bhp the E34 525 produces. you can fit a E34 525 inlet with the wide inlets and this should help release some of the missing power, up to normal E34 525 levels. You might then need to get the ecu tweaked but you will be better of all round.
