Hi All
I have problem with EGR , I took my car to BMW dealer for recall EGR cooler and been told it has been replaced. That was 6 months ago.

The car is BMW 2 Series
2.0 220d Sport Gran Tourer Auto

The car running rough and losing power for a sec when shifting up , it has been for months and getting worse .

The car mechanic run a diagnostic test which shows 5 codes related to EGR .

I took to the dealer yesterday said they didn't replace anything just done visual inspection and it passed.

Are EGR valve and EGR Cooler seperate pieces ? can EGR cooler be replaced without opening EGR valve ? I have seen pictures of EGR as whole piece and coolant pipe part if it .

I don't have that good knowledge of EGR and I have booked with the dealer for a diagnostic test.

I really appreciate your advice and comments .

Many thanks

BT

The valve and cooler are 2 different pieces
The valve is screwed onto the cooler

I think the latest recall was for a possible leaking cooler (exhaust smell) but the change the cooler the valve should be removed
