Hi all,

Hoping someone has a quick fix solution here.
I recently bought a 2009 E91 and the main boot struts seem really stiff. It requires the boot to be lifted up (won't go up on its own).
Once it's up, it stays up.

It's there anything I can do that could fix it? Or should I just but new struts?

Any help our ideas appreciated.
Thanks,
Trev.

Sounds like what my old E91 used to do, tried the usual WD40 etc but no luck.

Ended replacing them (NOT from BMW), got some Magneti Marelli ones off ebay from about £25 the pair - sorry can't find the link otherwise would have posted it. Just write down all the numbers off the struts and search for them on ebay.

Dead easy to change, just need a hook tool to pull the clips off either end of the strut then just push the new ones on, no need to compress them etc, just do one at a time - 10 min job max.

I've seen this a few times, now this thread and my own car...

Sort it out BMW, what a silly thing to have to replace at 7 years old... all my other cars are fine but that's 2 modernish BMs I've had in a row with the same issue.

Sorry, rant over
