So my 2005 120d has just been to my local Indi to investigate a heavy rear end and clunk on gear change.
What came back is gutting. A completely corroded rear Axel
Is it worth fixing or should I cut my losses? it has 115 on the clock. I have just replaced a spring and front callipers disk pads last week.

My concern is if this is done what else will they find when they strip the Axel

Not very savvy on this so any help would be appreciated :confused:hihi

That is shocking on a 2005 car! However a quick google search shows that rusty rear subframes is not un-common :(

I think I would be asking the garage to do a thorough check of the car for any other rust or other issues before proceeding. If that is an isolated problem then I would fix it but I'd want to check there were no other surprises before you sink more money into it.
