I have just put the phone down to my local BMW dealer...he tells me the oil sump gasket needs replacing at a cost of...wait for it

£732...the part is only £20..is this reasonable?:jaw-dropping

Any thoughts on any good alternatives garages in West London would be much appreciated

Robbing you there i did sump gasket only 2 weeks ago on 535d took just over 3hrs but still £136pr hr, so thats £400. very very rare they leak only changed gasket as holed sump. Big job tho lower subframe with streering rack has to be lowered or removed on some models.

I would assess how bad the leak is and if it's not at all bad then just keep topping the oil up when you check it's level every week:hihi
