Hi All,

I am new to the site, so sorry if this post is in the wrong place.

My 2006 Manual 330CD is losing water, getting very hot on long runs and there is a strange creamy spray all over the front of the engine near the EGR Valve (I think).

When the car gets very hot on long motorway runs (or large long hills), if I turn the heater on, it immediately cools back down to its normal temp of mid way on the gauge.

It is worth mentioning the car does a lot of motorway miles and is currently at 211,000 miles and has been a great servant so far in the 4 years I have had it.

There doesn't seem to be any oil in the water top up tank where the float is, on the dip stick or in the top of the engine from what I can see, so hopefully not the head gasket that's gone.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance.

If the car is loosing coolant then naturally its going to get hot as the coolant level drops.
You need to find the source of the leak.
Thermostat may have failed closed and/or the thermostat housing may be cracked causing the leak.
