Hi all

Went to look at a E36 316i yesterday, my dad had a quick look under the car (as the seller stated the exhaust had started to sag) and he noticed the heat shield plate had been ripped off (mounting holes had been pulled down towards the road)

I did a quick search of the forum but nothing relevant came up.
What sort of price is a replacement plate?

These heat shield often corrode around the bolts that secure them to the vehicle. Front bolts straight into the floor, middle secures to number 14 here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BE12&mospid=47424&btnr=41_0943&hg=41&fg=25 and the rear bolts to the diff housing IIRC.

This may be as simple as fitting some large washers onto the bolts so that they cover and secure the corroded hole area:thumbsup

Thats what i did Rym, just used large repair washers. It works a treat :thumbsup

No that's a gearbox mounting strengthening plate:thumbsup

I just took mine off as it was annoying me and spoiling the engine note :thumbsup
