E36 doorpanels repairs .

Sup guys , and Mel .
After being at BMW today picking up parts for the M3 , i had the sense to pick up door panel accesories to repair the doorpanels on the 318 , to get it ready for selling . The Clips + pushthingys . . You know the ones, they cost £22 per door.
Anyway tonight i stuck back all the inserts into the rear of the doorpanels which hold it to the door .
I have left it all setting for the night .
What i was wondering is , whats the correct procedure for putting the panel back on . The clips are already on the lip of the window frame .
Should they be in the doorcard and clipped on to the frame then , or in the frame as is and offer the card up to it that way .

The little metal clips, which would be at the top of the door card or the base of the window, should already be clipped to the bottom of the window. Then offer the door card up to it.

The little plastic clips, that always break!! Should be inserted into the door card, and then pushed into the mounting holes of the door.

Not 100% sure if this is the "correct" proceedure, however it seems the easiest, and I've had my door cards off at least once a week recently.

Was at work today so never got a chance to get pic up till now.
Steve , i am a frikin nightmare at describing stuff as my brain works much quicker than my mouth or hands . Lol
Anyway , i think Stevie maybe hit it on the head. As you can see in the pic , the clips stayed put , so when putting all back together i wondered if the clips should be in the doorpanel then the panel hooked over the window frame like most other cars . Or should they stay put and offer the doorcard up to them .
I did some maths before fixing the panel as the part of the panel which pushes on to those clips was one of the sections that had came free and had to be glued back together , there was no aparent place it had been glued before so i did a few offer ups before comitting to glueing. :hihi

Sounds like your having electric window problems.
Let me guess the window wont go up in one go , has to be little tiny bits.
My last one did it , my new one does it and when going through its history recently i noticed it had been into BMW for a replacement in 1998 .
Could this be a COMMON fault.:confused

Window problems? Never....ok, maybe a few.

The drivers window is alright going up while the ignition is on, but once off, and you press for one touch operation it will go up, then down a bit, up a bit, all the way down and freeze until you put the key back in and turn the electronics on, then it will go up fine.

The passenger window just falls out of the seal, which is a pain, so at the moment the switch is taped over, until I get back and have a chance to take it into the local BMW stealer for diagnostics. Which will cost me 10's of Thousands of pounds like usual...

Hi, Had same problem with my passenger window front and i fitted new motor... and still same problem... got fed up with it and decided to remove clip from bottom of the switch on pass front... now I (the driver) have no problems... but the passenger... well thats his problem... lol

anyhow I will get round to sorting it once weather gets a bit better and I have bought my leathers... interestingly you don't know of anyone selling any e36 saloon 4 dr leather seats in grey/silver? do you
