Just bought a project nice e36 323i convertible got it In the air . Than found oil all over the transmission pan . Has a life time green plastic plug on the bottom of the auto box pad a drain plug at one end . Bought a Mann filter and gasket kit drained the auto box as black as old engine oil changed the rubber gasket the old won had a split in it . And replaced filter . Hexi nut at top back end of auto box . Wondering where to refill the auto box with dextron 2 . Tried the hexi. Nut at top back of auto box with pipe and pump just comes back out again . Is there a special tool to screw in to the hole to pressurise it when you pump fluid back in . Or is there a pipe under the green oil for life plastic bung on bottom of the pan . No dip stick under bonnet . Just like some info where how to put the 5 to 6 litres of dextron 2 back in . Any information would be greatly appreciated with sounding to thick . Thanks

just use your VIN and select the diagrams for the transmission, there are all the details BMW Parts Catalog
you did not inform the built year, but for example a 1996 323i convertible can have 2 different automatic transmissions BMW A5S310Z = ZF 5HP18, or the A5S300J = Jatco RE5R01A .
There was even a third trans used in some E36 like 316, 318, 315td which use General Motors 4L30-E = BMW AS4 310R, A4S 270R
