Hi all

Looking to replace the lower timing chain tensioner on my 1994 320i 3 series. The car still has the original one in there and I am getting a little chain rattle for a few seconds on cold start ups. All the various discussions and forums say to replace the tensioner first of all. I believe I have seen some say to replace with the more modern hydraulic type rather than the spring type as they don't lose tension over time.

Just to confirm this is the M50 engine.

Can anyone confirm this is ok etc? I am just concerned they will differ in strength too much, if that is even possible?
