i have a '96 316i auto and i wondered if there was anything i could do it to increase speed on the car.

or if possible to change the point at which the gears are changed at higher levels (i.e. gears 3/4/5) so that the gears change sooner?

Not alot unfortunately for you, best thing is to wait and get a higher performance car

as above:lol but a good service and running the car on shell ultima or 99 ron fuel will help a little.A sports exhaust and induction kit will have very little effect as well as costing a few quid. not worth the money.
