I’ve been chasing an intermittent battery drain over the last few months. It’s only a small drain as it will flatten the battery over about 2 to 3 weeks. I’ve looked at all the usual suspects like boot wiring and glovebox light and they seem all ok. I’ve measured the battery drain as anywhere between normal I.e. 30mA and about 130mA by removing the earth terminal and putting a DMM between that and the -ve post on the battery. I’ve also tried the voltage test across all the fuses and again found nothing.

In desperation I rang a local auto electrician and he suggested that it could be the body control electronic module. He has been looking at various battery drain problems on several makes of cars over the last 10 to 15 years and he is of the opinion that this is the problem.

Has anyone heard or know of any battery drains relating to the body control module?

Can a body module be swapped between cars without any need to code to the car?
