hi guys please dont laugh at my ques. but what causes water to drip from the tailpipe when under rev or just throttling is this ok with the bimmer? p.s. i was told that this happens when the car is well tuned is there any truth to this or just myth?
its basic chemistry at work here
when you burn a hydrocarbon (in this case petrol) you are oxidising the hydrogen and carbon parts of the molecule.
this leaves you with water and carbon dioxide/monoxide.
the water is obviously steam as it leaves the combustion chamber, but it soon condenses in the exhaust pipe.when enough condensed water builds up,it drips from the end of the exhaust.
this is more noticeable when its very cold.
a good, long blast that gets the exhaust nice n hot helps matters
