Did sniff test yesterday-result negative.

Put water level correct and went for a thrash this morning (hard full rev thrash), in order to test again. Got back, and this is what happened.

1. Took expansion cap off (bit by bit) cue lots of gurgling, water pissing out of the tank, more gurgling and more water running out of the tank. (Is that normal when hot?).

2. Did sniff test, negative again, but water kept rising to the top so had to remove test kit.

3. As engine was running with cap off, water kept on rising and spilling over the top. (There was no leakage from therad cap when I got back from test spin).

What the hell is going on? NO OVERHEATING HAS OCCURRED. Temp is steady in the middle.

if you thrash the car the water gets very hot and preasure builds up, its normal for this to happen in a hot engine, you realy dont want to be removing the cap when its hot, if you miss the last thread and the cap pops off you could get a nasty burn.

Check the level in the morning when its cold. Top up the coolant to the correct level. Use a marker pen to mark the level on the rad. Use the car for 24hrs and do not remove the cap. Then check the level from stone cold again.
Report back to us then Philip :thumbsup
