I no there's the big round one in the engine bay but its there a OBDII fitted to the 1996 E36 and if so were is it hidden.

no uk spec E36's didnt have it

The round port is your ODB II port for your year and model. Propriatory BMW until EU made it a mandatory 16pin for all manufacturers
