I got asked this same question today. In which I replied, I have no idea. LOL.

TBH I doubt very much either of our cars have it... (My car is a 330CI M Sport).

330 has double vanos
the 1.9 has none as far as i know

i'm pretty sure it doesnt mate, its mainly the 6 cylinders. i think yours maybe valvetronic

Your 316i 4 cylinder engine does not have a vanos. The standard double vanos is on all the E46 6 cylinder (non-diesel, non-M3) cars (323, 325, 328, 330). All of the double vanos units are prone to having failed seals and replacing them will provide significant performance improvements and improved fuel consumption.
