So I am going to be looking at new tyres soon and currently have Bridgestone Potenza S001 Run Flats all round. Would it be best to fit the same again or do you have any recommendations as alternatives. Can i have run flats on the back and not on the front, never had a car with them before.
In the past I have always run Uniroyal Rainsport 5's on my cars
Cheers

I wouldn't mix the tyres, either all run flats or all go flats.

There are quite a few threads on here re run flats v go flats but basically I would say its a personal choice.

I have had run flats on all my cars, they have got me home safely quite a few times , once with a very large gash on the inner wall and to be frank I haven't noticed the ride being to harsh.

I have had various makes but I would say the Michelin Pilot Sport have been then best so far.

I have done that on previous E92 when the front runflats had a nail also both front looked close to end of life..replaced both with standard tyres but did not want to throw away a good set of rear tires.
But my car was only a 320i and not driven agressively, also the rear tires still on run flats meant it was gonna wear maybe 6m to 12m later. If you driving a powerfull car and like to push corners...then maybe not the best idea :)

My main reason for switch was the cost...the run flats were like 50% more plus for same brand

My current F36 has runflats...when they do need relpacing...i would fit standard tyres. Just did a quick search and the rear 255/40/18 cost eyewatering ÂŁ200 each...I already dive like a granny shopper and will carry on like 1 o_O

Not sure how it will affect insurance though with mixed tyres.

Mixing Bridgestone runflats with Rainsports will be a lot more stable and safer than, for example, running a mix of premium tyres on one axel and something like Comforser ditchfinder tyres with a E rating wet grip label on the other
