I know we read stories of car values falling but I though I'd share this one
A good friend of mine has for sale his M3 Saloon (4 door model) the new one with the V8 4 litre 2008 Loads of spec, list price was £57 approx UK car main dealer supplied .. I have seen the invoice:eek
It's covered less than a 1,000 miles!!! Loads of spec including 7 speed double clutch gearbox Electronic Damper control 19" wheels etc etc.
Finished in Silverstone with Novillo Black leather

He wants around 40K :jaw-dropping
but is open to offers
I was stuck for words, I though these were on back order, I haven't even seen another one on the road!
What a saving, or should I say what a loss :eek
Wish I was in the market at the moment, some great deals!:cool

since new about 8 months
He had it one the drive and someone tried to nick it by breaking into the house to get the keys :mad Didn't touch the car
His Mrs took this badly as they were in with the kids at the time
Car must go and hence his decision!
I have offered to run it in for him but I won't repeat what he told me to do :sarcastic
Cracking motor though

I feel for him as he has waited for the damn thing to be delivered
I think he would take late 30's for it too
Still I was looking at a site today that had a Bently Arnage r which was 190K new three years and 21K on the clock later they are asking 70K now thats depreciation! :jaw-dropping
120K in three years must break your heart let alone the wallet!
I've always said I choose what car and get the fun of using it but not for that much money. Never buy new either, I let someone else pay for the extras which count for nowt later one.;)

Bentley's have come down considerably. Shame about the break in situation with yuor mate. Actually thats something I bet none of us would ever think about when buying such a car! Saw a Continental GT on autotrader for about £45K.

Some cars have dropped, others have stayed firm but a few that I have been looking at have eitehr stayed firm or gone up!! :mad but the very same cars are still in the forecourts week after week, month after month before selling. (RS6, E55K, RS4, C32/C55 etc)

I was even considering getting another C70 T5 to fiddle with for a few months, even those have gone up in general :eek But the Supra TT's are reasonable in the region of £6-7K.

I honestly think that people have the money, but are just holding onto it, just holding out longer etc to see how things pan out in the economy.

There was a gallardo e-gear in bright orange on pistonheads yeasteray - can't find it now - but it had lost 50k in 4mths!!

I remember a special 3mnth old mustang on PH a couple of months ago that, having done 2500 miles, had lost TEN POUNDS PER MILE in depreciation. Madness.

Yup, sad to say I'm one of those people who are keenly looking at Autotrader week on week watching the prices fall. Each week I seem to add a new demand to my wish list, and when that car comes up the next week I add yet another. 28k miles, leather, idrive, sat nav, FSH, 2 years of service included, on a 320d for £11.9k? Hrm, not quite the right colour, I'll wait till next week and see if I can get a sunroof in there for the same price. :D

It's terrible, but true.

:lol:thumbsup

Very good point!!!!

its great for buyers, but if youve got a car to sell it swings the other way too!

Although a lower value car to sell will of course lose a lot less

Like, look at these links:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2006-06-Reg-B...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:2|39:1|240:1318

and

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...cleYearOfManufacture=2005&vehicleRegLetter=55

That's the same car listed by cargiant, just 2 weeks apart and it's 2k less now. That's pretty crazy!

The thing that is killing me is the new 2007 57 SE models. They are now going for sub £13k with low mileage. It really baffles the brain actually. If I could find a 2007/57 SE with leather for £13k and idrive, I'd stop my search.

Whoops, on 2nd look, they aren't the same car. The first 2 pictures are *almost* identical, but the 3rd picture in the more expensive one shows sat nav, while that's not an option in the later picture. So more options for 2k less, that's almost worse.
