Hi folks been working on this car going on a year now just can’t figure it out

It’s a 2007 120d N47

All started when the timing chain snapped it was stripped down new rockers head checked by an engineer for cracks 6 new valves were replaced

The workshop totally rebuilt the engine new head gasket ,head bolts ,timing chain, glow plugs ,new turbo , new timing chain kit and guides new sump and lots of other sundries

When we tried to start the car it ran rough off a cylinder with greyish black smoke

No management light no major error codes except for glow plug controller in Rheingold ?

We did a Compression test that showed low pressure in cyl 2 tried swapping injectors still same error on cyl 2

The garage washed their hands off it couldn’t fix it so I wasn’t charged for Labour

What could cause this guys any ideas

My thoughts were

1.Bent con rod......piston protrusion wasn’t measured as the tops of the pistons had no visible valve contact damage

2.sticking valves as 6 were replaced by and engineering works

3.timing off ? Crazy as the work was done by a BMW specialist

4.Camshaft lobe slightly worn on cyl 2 ?

I was thinking of just buying a recon engine but there has been so many new parts replaced already it seems crazy
I’m at my wits end with it any help would be great guys

Unfortunately without stripping the engine again it will be guesswork. I would imagine that getting it rebuilt has cost a pretty penny as well.

I know this is of no use to you now, but I personally would have gone with a second hand engine and changed the timing chain while it was out.
