Having read the various threads about the love/hate of run flat tyres,
this might sound like a totally dickish question, and I apologise if this
has been answered before.....

we have a white 130m sport 1 series - missus drives it

its on bridgestone 215x40xR18 rft

dont particularly mind the rft, but would like an aftermarket set of alloys,
preferably in black.

If my tyres came off the originals and depending that I got an aftermarket alloy the same size etc, I can in theory use them ? its nothing to do with the bmw alloys being stronger is it because of the rft ? tyre sensor decides if flat due to rolling circumference and detects a deflation that way ?

Tyres on have 5k miles on them and rather than shell out for new rims and tyres/buying a spacesaver or tyre sealant I wondered if this was possible

sorry for opening old wounds :hihi

I can think of no reason why you wouldn't be able to re-use the original Run Flat Tyres on aftermarket wheels providing they are the same size diameter wheel:thumbsup

At the end of the day, If you hit any wheel hard enough it will bend or buckle:frown

Interesting replies comrades.

Posted the same thread on babybmw site and they all think you cant....

Unless the side wall of the tyres is more rigid I dont see why you couldn't either

Hmmmm, this might rumble on for a wee while yet, thanks for the replies

cheers

any tyre can be fitted to any rim size so long as the tyre size and rim sizes are suitable for each other.
