Hi guys,

Had a bit of a bad experience with the above dealer last week serving my e90 320D LCI.

I won't mention that the Spire Ruislip dealer tried to rip me off by adding a scope charge of £20 which they did not quote and I refused to pay, I wasn't quoted for it, so I said I will not pay. Angrily they accepted.

I won't mention the fact that they also refused to cancel my service light if I did not go for a service £170 more expensive, they also did not inform me of this even thought they knew the cars full service history, millage etc. Now i accept that this may BMW dealer policy, however, the car had its fuel filter etc changed, just not at BMW, by the previous owner as i have receipts for this. Also, they could have let me know about this as they knew all the cars details and knew id travel some distance to get this work done being i West London. If this was a local dealer I would have shown them the middle finger.

Lastly, I won't mention that when they gave it a complementary wash, one of the lads was doing the wheels with the same cloth as the body,(i never mix the two together?) threw said cloth of the dirty ground and wanted to go about continuing to wash the car at which point I interrupted to save my innocent paintwork.

I of course paid for the oil and filters changed, however, I then discovered on the drive home and for the past 2 days that my drivers seat has also been broken. Obviously it was moved to accommodate whoever sat in there. However, it now keeps on clicking whenever I accelerate, brake or corner without any force whatsoever, just releasing the clutch in first will make it go "click" "pop" or however you want to describe it. Now the noise is not so much an issue, if the radio is on its barely heard, however, the clicking sensation on my a*s is driving me f***ing fuming mad.

Really disappointed about this. Will let BMW know via letter, I already did through twitter.

Thought i'd let people know, maybe its only me with a bad experience, but I'm certainly not going back, might even avoid main dealers all together. Only did it for the stamp in all fairness.

As always, all the best,

SJ

Just to let everyone know, I finally got the work I needed doing on my car done by a friendly and competent chap called Craig who is a qualified BMW technician. He is trained specialist available for doing private work currently on Saturdays and is able to undertake work in areas around Luton, North London, West London and more.

This was my first introduction to him. I had significant work done on 2 cars from him including changing the main thermostat, replacing the swirl flaps with blanking plates, changing the glow plugs and glow plugs controller and giving the inlet manifold / intake system a complete overhaul. He completed the assigned work to a very high standard and went beyond the call of duty to surpass customer expectations. He is able to attend to your work as a mobile mechanic.

If you are seeking a competent qualified BMW (or Mini) mechanic who offers very good value for money in addition to professional job, then give Craig a shout on 07468 460 813. Tell him you were referred to him by Ahmed from BimmerForum.co.uk. He will look after you.

Just to update this thread, Spire BMW Ruislip continue to be completely dreadful. Have found another BMW dealer to look after my E39 M5.

I can say I had a similar experience when I went in for my service, choose the £170 one and when I got there they said they wouldn't reset the key if I didn't go for the £300 option! And also the cleaning job they did was horrible and they never filled the screenwash up either!

I now have the dreaded timing chain rattle on my N47 F10 - been advised in another post to go and speak to the service manager - but as Ruislip is my local one and where I have done my 1 and only service I am not sure if I should go there or somewhere else? I will keep Craig's number to hand as well! Will come in handy!

Car washing at dealers is a joke. I have been sat in the car park of two dealers in the last couple of years and watched the guys cleaning them. (I do have a life, I was actually shopping for a new car at the time)

Audi Bolton had a guy washing the whole car with a sponge and started with the wheels and worked his way up the car. Jaguar Preston were just as bad but had two of them doing it at the same time.

If I was paying £50K plus for a car, I would be mortified.

Some of the many reasons I never go to a main dealer.....indi''s always in my experience do a better job & employ ex BMW technicians.

Only thing you don't get is free coffee & biscuits! ....but at around half the hourly rate who cares about having a free coffee while you wait....:D

Anyone know of any good independent garages around the Ruislip area? I need to get my N47 timing chain replaced, tried to get it done by the dealer but they ain't having it (not surprising!) Best offer I have got is a place in Croydon for about £1500 - but don't fancy the trek across London with a dodgy timing chain!
