This looks like a lot cheaper method of getting an Ipod through the idrive system than the Dension 500. Be very interested in how easy it is to install.

I have a quote of 299 for fitting this in my car....
Who from? the company direct or someone else?

Maybe a group buy/install would be good?

I fitted one of these interfaces to my E60 a few weeks ago.

Added a media player and rear camera too for not much cash!

What do you want to know!?!?!

is it really plug and play?

Was it easy to fit?

Does it just give you an ipod connector in the glove box for plugging in iphone/ipod? Does this charge the iphone/ipod as well?

Can you use the music part of an iPhone and still have the bluetooth connected?

Is it easy to use through the idrive?

Any screenshots/videos of it in operation...

sorry for all the questions, you did ask!! :)

The interface I have does not have usb - its AV only...

It is plug and play integration...after setting a handfull of dip switches and a tweek on its (setup only) onscreen menu.

It ambushes the LVDS cable and hooks onto the CAN bus.

To operate it (other than reverse camera, which is auto), you use the idrive - its not integrated into its menu, but obviously the idrive controller is on the bus, so it watches you pressing the controller.....eg for 1sec it switches inputs.

You can easily hook up an ipod via a/v - but that does not give you idrive control of the ipod - you still need to control it manually.

I just mounted a wee media player (supports flash card or usb HD) and has its own remote....less than £25 fitted.....real easy.

As its LVDS/CAN it does not alter any factory BT setup.

The reverse camera is cheap too - plenty on ebay for less than £20 - just be carefull with the fit to the E60 as many clam they fit nearly all BMWs...

So..the interface is cheap....and works really well!
