Im bored so thought I'd share this.
Is it just me but does anyone remember when eBay was the only real place to pick up bargains?

Not anymore it seems, I can't believe the prices people are asking for stuff at the moment.

Check this little lot out

316 lump for £725- do they not realise you can buy an entire car for that that would have a test and ticket on it?

And the same again thins time for a 328 lump £950!

Strut brace for £450 anyone? I dont care if it was made from dead baby wales crafted on the thighs of virgins and then used to behead the pope.

Ok more innocent this time, a washer bottle, don't forget to see how much the tit wants for postage as well.

Have people gone mad/stupid/incredibly greedy?

Yea, those prices are "a bit off the scale", lol, but still.. I think you can still get good bargains on Egay, you just have to keep an eye on them. I wouldn't bash the whole site just because of some users are sky-high when pricing their items. :thumbsup

I'm not bashing the whole site, I think its great and search like it every day like a crack head looks for his next hit but it does stun me sometimes.

Fishing....

If you need an engine, you'll pay the 700-900 price. If you are selling one, you'd struggle to shift it for £150.

There is other stuff I see, some wheel traders soak up every cheap set of wheels, jetwash them and advertise them at 2-4 times what they paid for them. In some cases, there simply is no chance for a bargain as there is someone buying everything and relisting with a higher price.

I've also seen a seller that is buying up M3s around the £2.5k mark and then advertising them straight very soon after as for parts which is a little sad.

Greed.

You think that strut brace is a mental price-when new IIRC they were retailing for 900quid...........and if I am not mistaken I think it may be a member from here that is selling it too

Thats the trouble lots do pay over the odds, thus forcing values sky high sometimes more than the new price!!!!!:jaw-dropping...but if it's sought after folks go mad and put crazy bids on.

eBay used to be good but now it's just full of traders... and the scummy end of the trade at that.

I'll give away my special secret for BMW parts though. Learn to speak German and go to www.ebay.de. MUCH cheaper!

Language barrier could be interesting but I guess its worth a go.

How have you found delivery costs to be from German sellers?

I've looked on there as well and its no cheaper as far as i can see, infact I'd say its hugely more expensive. Depends on what your after i suppose but certainly things like leather interiors and wheels are a fair more bit expensive.

Just look how much these are!

postage from germany isnt usually too bad. I had a 3 Kilogramme package sent from Germany to UK for around 15 quid postage. Ironically though it is at times faster than UK postage. A lot depends on sellers choice of service though. Unlike the american costs which these days are extortionate. There was a time you could get small things from US easily for less than a fiver postage. Nowadays there are sellers insisting on certain delivery firms and charging 20 odd quid to ship a badge.
