Hey youuuu guys!

Well as some of you know im a 3rd year apprentice sparky for scottish and southern energy and once ive done my time im wanting to get onto the rigs seen as i have no commitments like a girlfriend anymore and need the money to buy hookers.

Now i know i need to do the sea safety stuff and the whole helicopter in the water drill but is there anything else.. I know im going to need my comp ex certificate aswell.

As I will be just out of my time will they mind this and offer more training or will they be looking for more experienced persons?

Well thats all ive got to say really any response will be good.. (apart from ralph coz he will just call me a ****.. :lol)

Good Luck Ben,

I'd love to do rig work but it just doesn't suit my lifestyle but I wish you all the best.

The only things you'll need really are laptop and internet so that you can access Bimmerforums and plenty of porn sites :cool

Sorry I can't say anything useful on this occasion so I just thought I'd try a bit of light hearted humour :D

There was a guy I used to chat to at my local gym in Invergordon who was an offshore sparky. Can't ask him for details though - he is offshore. Sorry pal.

Not specifically sparkying Ben but still offshore chatter, dunno if its any use pal http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/f22/anyone-work-in-the-oil-industry-t58469/ :thumbsup
Thanks man.. yeah i had a read of that and does make me wonder.. SSE bought over Airtricity whih is a massive wind turbine company and i gues i could get in about the wind industry fairly easily and within the company but to be honest the company doesnt hold out much for me.. I think it might just be our section and my boss's fault as the rest of the company really enjoy what they do and get rakes of overtime!

As Mr Rumple said Ben youll soon recoup the money youve spent on courses like.

Lasted 5 year myself back in the 80s Ben when all you needed was your survival course. From what i hear now youve needed a GREEN HAND course for a while now and something new as well called SIPS or something like that.

As has been said its quite hard to get a start now but once your fully qualified...

Xmas and new years a good time to get a start with some folk not turning up as well.

I would def go for it Ben you being young with no ties, you might not like it but you wont know till you try i suppose:thumbsup

Im sure the green hand course is only for folk going into the drilling side of things mate

You need your offshore survival certificate, a safety cerificate like NEBOSH for a kick off, a medical certificate too and there's summat else that eludes the memory just now. We do some work with Petrofac who took over the offshore survival stuff from RGIT years ago. Can have a word on Monday, (assuming I've shifted this damn flu) and see what I can dig up for you if you want?
