Mods please delete this if it breaks any rules...

Has anyone had good/bad experiences with this garage? I was very impressed with their stock and customer service last week and from what I saw I will be happy to wait for them to get the right M3 in before I part with my 330Ci. I know they are a recommended garage on here but wondered if anyone has any first hand experience?

Hi,

I dont have personal experience of them.

But generally, by doing this, are we not placing ourselves in a position to be paying more of a premium price (less negotiable too) because the dealer knows they have almost a 100% sale.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

I do agree with you but I would rather pay a little more money for a car (especially an M3) and know I'm getting a quality car where the dealer won't ignore you with any problems you may have further down the line. I hate garages and dealers but these people did impress me and I wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience?

Courteous and friendly before u part with yr money is common practice even at a cheap old used car place. The real test is after u've parted with yr money and go back with a complaint. If the service is just as good then, then id be exstatic but before that i wont be singing any praises. To me all dealers are money grabbing lying twisted barstewards!!

Unpleasant experience and unroadworthy car

I bought a car from James Paul. I did not even make it home before the car had problems. Upon taking it back and complaining I was met with constant denials and lies about the state of the car. They were rude, unpleasant, and I had to fight really hard to get the car fixed, and made roadworthy. I also found that you have to view and inspect the car in the pub car park next door, or in the lay-by next to the dealership. They also refused to give me an email address, and tried to keep all communication verbal, and they told me they record your phone calls. I would never buy a car from these people again.

James Paul

Bought a BMW via the web described as in VGC, all works as it should. Paid strong money for a "great example". Collected some 2 weeks later & all seemed OK on collection but like other member's experiences, we started having troubles within 30 mins of leaving them. Warning lights & other malfunctions led to a series of telephone calls with them. We were advised to get the vehicle home & get a local garage to take a look/sort out the problems.

To our horror, we commissioned 2 garages to inspect & report. The car was not roadworthy despite having passed its MOT a few days earlier. Just over 300 miles following collection & the car died altogether & was recovered to the local garage. Estimates of £3500 to repair the car & James Paul completely uninterested. Rude/arrogant emails were received in response to our concerns; suggesting we should have had the car inspected by an Engineer prior to purchase
We now find ourselves having to take legal advice in respect of this matter

Great sales patter but buyer beware - be prepared for battle should you experience any problem with the vehicle

I have contacted Trading Standards & will also contact the Ministry of Transport

They would still have to abide by the sale and supply of goods act. Doesn't sound like it 'matched description', was 'fit for purpose' nor was a 'satisfactory quality'.

Hi folks. Just registered here to add my bit to this thread. Happened a while ago but sure will do yous no harm to hear it anyway!

It wasn't a BMW I was after but a Type S Diesel Honda Civic (Laugh if you wish) Anyway I was coming from Ireland and I called up in advance and
asked was the car damaged repaired because if it was please let me know, I don't want it. No was their reply.

So I booked my flights to the UK and the ferry home. They wouldn't take cash either, so I had arranged with my bank before hand that I was going
to be buying a car and didn't want any stupid password requests when the transaction was going to go through.

Rang them when my flight landed, explained I was under pressure for time and to have the car ready please.
Arrived at their place, car was not ready as requested. Car arrived some 30 minutes later, parked on the side of the road across from where their other cars were parked.
Far from an ideal place and I am pretty sure it was parked that way for a reason which I later found out.

The sales man "Matt" and ignorant A Hole handed the phone to me when he was putting the transaction through and my bank was requesting a password that
I had never been asked for before and the transaction was declined. This happened twice as I was guessing a password I didnt know of and this was the 3v Visa thing
so they wouldnt discuss anything else with me. Far from ideal.

I had to call my branch in Northern Ireland to try sort it. Now I had flown over from Ireland, I had a assumed the nice garage I was buyin the car from would be polite enough to let me use their phone.

He then said to me "I cannot sit here with you all day at my desk while you sort out your bankiing issues" I couldnt believe it and if I had have been at home in Dublin I would have told him to fcuk right off.

I was late for the ferry as it was and I needed the car to get there so I bit my tongue whilst still not believing how rude he actually was.

Anyway thankfully got through to the bank manager and it was sorted. Quite lucky because she wasnt actually supposed to help me out like she did but I explained my situation and she was quite understanding.

So off I went and hit the road.

Didnt realise until I got home to Dublin a few days later than the front left wing had obviously been damaged and repaired on the cheap. As you can imagine I was not happy as I had specifically asked was the car in anyway damaged before I purchased my flights over.

I was in Ireland at this stage and I got a quote from a repair shop here and I wrote to JamesPaul and explained they sold me a car with a shitty repair job and I would like it put right.

They didn't want to know and I'm sure they felt that because I was in Ireland at this stage I wouldn't bother following it up.

I bit the bullet and did get the wing aligned and painted right myself at an additional cost of course.

So there you go JamesPaul that was over three years ago but thats what an unhappy customer does. Just letting all you BMW heads know what they are like if you are thinking of buying from them.

Thank you :)

I perchesd a BMW E46 M3 from James Paul in May 2015 god I wish I hadent I met an ignorant stuck up man Nick who obviously thinks he's very important to say the least,
I went on a test drive with the man who cleans the cars the drive seemed to go well slightly notchy gear change but fairly common, I was assured that there would be a new MOT on the car and any advises would be done, I went round the car and asked for a few bits to be spayed about £190 worth and the gear oil to be changed the car was up for £11k so I thought it was fair enough.

I got the call on the 19th of May 2015 to say the car was ready finally I was going to pick up my 1st M after saving hard.

when I got there it was dumped on the side of the Road no room to properly check the spraying I handed my cash over to Nick and that was it deal done he said that the warranty would be in the post, less than 4 days later and 60miles in the car I came out to my new drive covered in Dif oil how lovely.
I called and Nick said you will have to call the work shop I got the feeling he wasn't at all interested no I'm sorry to hear that nothing,
I called the work shop he told me to drive it 25 miles there but he had nothing for 2 weeks I asked a garage and they said no you shouldn't drive it,
I called them back and they said you need to get it here completely not interested, I managed to get the car to the showroom,
I asked for a loan car they gave me a Battered bmw e36 auto 92 that I had for over a week and it broke down 2x what a pice of crap.

I finally went to get my car back I went to the showroom they said it was at the garage I will have to go there I got there and it it was filthy they didn't even clean it stuck under a tree I asked the bloke at the garage what had been done they weren't very helpful. I took the car back and just had a bad feeling about it so I took it to a friend at BMW in Brighton they flagged up the 2 front tyres which were worn and split on the inner edge and would never have passed an MOT also the subframe was corroded and should have been an advise at the least 2 bushes that should have failed BMW looked at the past MOTs and the last 2 years before the new dodgy mot they put on the subframe had be an advise also the bushes were an advise....
Dangerous to say the least...

I called Nick again and he said it would never have left like that and I must have damaged the tyres it took days and emails from myself and the BMW tyre specialist to get them to offer to replace the Goodyear tyres with 2 X cheap £100 for the pair tyres like anyone would put them on an M3.

They are dodgy and will rip you off keep well away the car cost me over 2k to get to a safe and good standard you will be better off traveling 200 miles more than go to these cowboys.

Old thread but thought I would add my twopenneth worth for the sake of a balanced opinion.
Bought my E91 335D from them in November 2015 and to be honest couldn't be happier! Ok so after 6 weeks one of the headlamp washer units got stuck (common fault avoided by running higher concentrate of screen wash in winter) and cost me £180 (unit fell out completely on a motorway journey!).
Ok so I paid slightly over the odds but I expect that being a dealer and also it was the only one at the time with good mileage for it's age (as in low).
Got picked up from Guilford station by the car washer (in a smart car which given his size was an odd choice...) but the salesman was nice enough if a little slimy but aren't they all....!
I'd buy from them again

Paid a £1000 deposit on a Clubsport but couldn't collect for a few weeks as the dealership was some distance away, then I was booked into collect the weekend but I was told it had been sold; they refused to refund my deposit. They then knocked £1250 off ta car I was part-ex'ing.
Then another car came in which I said I wanted and agreed a price and was told to call it the morning to sort everything out; called early and the car had been sold.
Professional until it gets personal and then it becomes money grabbing.
