Well, the clutch is slipping but it's not slipping like the clutch is going.

Let me explain.
It's been doing this for about three months - getting steadily worse but here's the thing.

Clutch slips:

  • Only when engine fully hot
  • Only for a moment or two after gear changes and then bites and stays firm
Cannot, I repeat CANNOT be made to slip on a cold engine - however hard you try
The car stalls nicely doing the handbrake test.

Is there something in the hydraulics that would give these symptoms without being a worn clutch? (sc, mc, lines, air in system?)

Please help...I can't afford a new clutch.

OK - denial over then!

My local garage say LUK.
People on here say SACHS,

Any prefs?

Thanks to you both, guys.

Garage has quoted £320 for job start to finish.

LUK kit (£120)

plus 2.4 hours fitting.

Sound about right chaps?
