hi guys i have just got a momo wheel and boss kit, want to fit it to my 3 series, how do i go about removing the air bag without blowing my face off ? :silly

2 cross head screws on the back of the steering wheel, undo them unplug the wires and then a 17mill socket to pop the steering wheel of, pop the new one back on and your done.

But disconnect the battery first
The airbag lamp will be on when you put the new wheel on. But the bulb can be removed

you dont need to disconnect but yea if your a bit nervous then it might be worth while, im tough so i just rip it of

remember to make sure the wheels are centred and use the correct tools, the cross heads on the steering wheel can be a pain to get out if they are rounded a bit

I'd disconnect the battery. I know a mechanic who was killed when an airbag went off and drove a screwdriver into his chest.

Keep the old airbag wheel for mots! Airbag light will be a fail in the near future :thumbsup

mine was 2 T30 torx headed screws in the back and a 16mm socket to remove the wheel as was the E36 touring i raided 2 weeks ago
dont try to remove the bolt holding the steering wheel to the shaft by using the steering lock to stop the wheel turning, you could snap it

the connections for the airbag and horn are just inside the lower cover for the ignition barrel, 1 orange and black one and 1 white and black one

Cheers I'll have a look at that first, was actually only changing it as can't seem to get my horn working so pretty much ruled it down to the switch!

Powers fine at the fuse but diddlysquat down at the horns!
