:frownHi you helpful lot you
(I checked to see if the has been listed before but couldnt find it anywhere recent, so sorry if it has)
Got 1998 523i touring with self levelling suspension, the rear left is squeeking badly so i took it to my indy, he greased it up, but this only lasted a couple of days. He says the bushes are gone from the lower sus' arm and that theese cannot be replaced. need to buy the complete lower arm, quoted me £271+vat. (Noticed my mates x5 doing the exact same, but the noise doesnt bother him, lol)

Any one know where i can get the part cheaper???

I have seen posts of people who have replaced these themselves on a touring, they didn't mention the whole subframe had to be replaced. I could be wrong but I would be cautious. From what I recall you need a special tool to remove them which is maybe why this guy is quoting for a new subframe? Maybe he doesn't want to fork out for the tool!!
(From Franklin tools website)
AFT47 Rear Subframe Bush Tool - BMW 5 Touring
Bush replacement tool for use on rear axle carrier bushes (33311094036) as used on BMW 5 series Touring models (E38 / E39). The tool features a fine pitch thread and thrust bearing to enable the rear subframe bushes to be removed / inserted - without removing the rear subframe assembly from the vehicle.

Tool shown with a replacement subframe bush - NOT INCLUDED.

Get a second opinion from another nearby specialist maybe?

That is for the rear subframe bushes, you use that tool to replace the subframe bushes in situ :thumbsup
