Hi guys

New to the forum, though not to BMWs and I just bought a new one (2006 330d e91 auto)

Popped into the garage today because of the turbo whine in the video below. They suggest the turbo might be on the way out - not what anyone wants to hear!

https://youtu.be/ZSJPCXJ2Kns

I paid £5200 for the car which seems fair - I've been watching them for a few months and prices vary between 4k and 9k for more or less the same car!

This one has 98k miles, FSH, and an oil change a few months ago at 96k miles. I owned an identical model last year which didn't make this whine.

Whats the verdict on the noise? And the advice - leave well alone, or get something done?

Thanks in advance for your help..

Chris

Just scrutinised the service records more closely and it looks like it went a bit too long between its second and third service (30895mi on 06/2009 and 50858mi on 09/2010 respectively)

Any idea if this would cause potential problems now?

Service history otherwise looks bang on.

You need to check how much play it has in the bearings
They can last like this for a long time but it's best to have it checked out

I would think the service is 20k or 2 years.
Turbo on a car i sold about 3 years ago sounded like that for the 4 years i owned the car.
