I posted the same in 5 series as i guess there are more owners of M57 6 cylinders 30-35d, but since it is quiet here as it is, I am also asking the same here curious about which oil do you use for your diesel engines and if there is any particular reason for doing so.
I have used to use bmw own oil 5w30, then i used castrol, and then one mechanic told me I should use Mobil F1 5w30 and few shopowners selling oils agreed but even maybe to close the sale and not explaining this and that, but thinking about it, is there any measurable or experience based reason, data, facts that leans to use specific oil over the other?
I know shell has agreement with bmw to supply them with oil, before it was castrol, so i guess the better price and T&C's won the contract, or is there any quality involved? let me know which one you use. thanks.
