Hi all. I need some advice. Car was reading low on oil this week so I topped up with the requisite 1L yesterday when car was cold. Went to drive it today and within half a mile it cut out when slowing for roundabout. Restarted and idle felt rough...car not pulling right in a linear fashion. Kept cutting out at idle. Sounds ok at 2-3k rpm but still not right. I did an OBD scan got a 2A98 inlet camshaft to crankshaft correlation error.
Is this a sign of the inlet vanos solenoid failed? or something else? Cleared fault but its still there and coming back. Rough idle, cuts every time i slow the car. Yellow engine block light is on the dash. It clears with code but returns on running the car.
I figured maybe I overfilled the car so i removed around 1L of oil (lots of fun on 2'c tarmac) and refilled with 1/2 a litre. No sign of improvement after a few miles. Could an oil overfill have caused oil to enter the inlet manifold? Seems unlikely as the car was definitely down 1/2-3/4L of oil prior to my refilling with 1L. But I never had this error before... only after filling with 1L of additional oil.
Any advice? I havent got my tools with me so dont think i can address the solenoids on my own and this is the worst time of year to find a garage thats open!
