Just did an overdue oil and filter change on my BMW 320D E90 2010. Low oil pressure warning a few minutes after start up.
Used recommended oil and genuine Bosch replacement paper cartridge type oil filter.
The only think that was different is that the old filter had a small "plastic leg" / spacer to lift it off the base of the housing. The new one did not have this. Maybe the plastic leg / small diameter tube has some other purpose and forms part of the housing not part of the filter?
What is the purpose of this small plastic single tube or is it to position the cartridge filter?
Might have slightly overfilled with oil. No oil leaks. Red warning light and do not drive message.
Have I damaged the oil pressure sensor ?
Not sure whether the old oil was correct grade - was a diesel grade maybe 15W 30W and might have been topped up with diesel oil 20W 50W.
Low KM's. 72K Kms.
Hopefully an easy fix? Used a big wrench to remove the oil filter screw off plastic cover. Might have damaged something adjacent?
Grateful for any suggestions / help.
Many Thanks.
