Hi All,

New member, hope everybody is well.

My 2016 M4 competition has only 18,000 miles on it, its been maintained regardless of cost, has new tyres, brakes are all perfect etc etc.

Recently, i've noticed a loudish scraping noise, it sounds once with every rotation of one of the wheels.

It doesn't happen when I start up, it takes maybe 5 - 10 miles before it becomes apparent and to reiterate it is only noticeable at low speeds.

The scraping gets louder when I turn right. If im doing let's say 10mph, I can hear it, but as soon as I ever so lightly press the brake, the scraping stops.

It makes the car sound like its in a bad way, its not, I had it checked over fully recently when it had a major service.

I booked in at KwikFit for one of their free brake checks, and to be fair the lads were brilliant, they really did give it a good once over for me, no noises from any of the wheels, discs and pads all ok, they looked at the 'back place' and generally pulled and pushed a few bits to see if they could solve it. Ironically, for the next 50 miles it was as if they'd fixed it, the car was quiet, but then it returned.

I also noticed recently that on a short run, my passenger front tyre temp was up at 27 degrees while all the others were at 22/23...I wondered if that might be a sign of something catching?

Any help is hugely appreciated, the car is booked in to a local BMW specialist next week for him to have a look at, so if anybody can assist before then that would be amazing

Thanks in advance

Had the same problem a few months ago, replaced them and it went away, it sounded like my front end was going to fall off sometimes, horrible tinny rattling metallic clunking and grating sound

I'd agree backplate is catching something, and if only one wheel is higher temp almost definitely that wheel with the issue.
