I have a 2.0D in my 2015 X1 which is fine but drove a 2.5X1 (I think same engine but significantly more powerful) and was blown away.

Intrigued: what is the difference? if they are both twin turbo 2 litre engines is it simply engine mapping or has the more powerful one got bigger turbos etc?

can any kind person explain?

many thanks

Older X1 (E84) rear or 4wd built 2008-2015

2.0d 2 litre (N47) single turbo
2.5d 2 litre (N47) twin turbo

New X1 (F84) front or 4wd built 2015 on

2.0d 2 litre (B47) single turbo
2.5d 2 litre (B47) single turbo

New version power difference is mapping, twinpower turbo is a bmw marketing phrase that does not mean twin turbo

Hope this helps

Hi Oliver,

I hope you are having fun in your X1.

I was wondering if you wanted to have a look at a variety of SUVs similar to the X1 for your views and opinions, purely for a market research basis. We are working with one of the SUV manufacturers and are paying a number of X1 drivers for their views and thoughts.
If it is of interest to you please PM me.

Cheers,

Simon
