Hello,
I have a BMW 320 (new model) which has a cigarette lighter in front of the gear box, and also under the drivers arm rest. I have tried two USB micro chargers (one of which is a Belkin) which work perfectly with the cigarette lighter in front of the gears. However, neither of them work under the armrest. I know there is nothing wrong with this socket, as a traditional tall charger works fine in it, but I can't use it as it doesn't allow the arm rest to come down.
Any suggestions please?
Is there a perhaps a design difference between the 2 sockets?
or possibly a power/watt input/output restriction as to what each socket can deliver (as the USB Belkin Charger can deliver 1000mA at 5V)

Both sockets share the same power line, however, the one under the arm rest also shares it's power with the rear passenger centre console if you have it. Shouldn't make a difference though.
