Hi, this is a question on behalf of a friend who owns an 08 X3. She has had a problem when actually moving, when the car is decelerating (foot taken off throttle) it cuts out. Initially went to the main dealer who said that he could not find a fault, then problem persisted. Returned TWO more times before dealer finally admitted that there was a production fault with a batch of X3s.
I was wondering if anyone knew any more about this or where i could find some more information.
also is it illegal to give back a car when an inherant fault is known, especially as this could be very dangerous, for example if it happens on the motorway.
any help would be much apreciated cheers henry
HI Henry
Seeing as this is a general quesiton I will leave it in this forum, but we do have an X series tech forum on Bimmerforums
I have not heard about this 'bad batch' you talk of. Has BMW recalled any cars?
What did they say the fault was? Im guessing it was something to do with the Drive by Wire electronics, but they may not have told you that!
Have the BMW garage fixed her X3s problem now?
If not, I would advise your friend to get an independant report from a quality independant BMW specialist.... then use this to nogotiate a replacement X3 from BMW.
In fact, if they have not rectified the problem on her car at this time, then if it was me I would demand a replacement car...
