I have just had to buy 2 rear tyres and was advised that the rear camber had caused the inner rim to be ripped to shreds.

Is it correct that the camber can only be done at a BMW dealer and how often should this check be done - how much would i expect to pay for this adjustment.

I have been told that the camber adjustment should be checked every 3 months ???

You can have the rear camber adjusted at any reputable alignment centre with Hunter laser equipment. There are 2 arms...one black, one silver linked to the suspension. The silver arm is the adjustable one for camber. I doubt if you need to check camber every 3 months, unless you are wearing your tyres very quickly.

In terms of wear;

7000 miles - rears replaced due to sidewall delamination on one (bulge) and then a blow out on the other caused by pressure loss due to cracked rim and sensor being set when pressure was lower than recommended (dealer **** up)

18000 miles - rears replaced due to inner wear, fronts replaced due to inner wear. All tracking checked and ok (Bridgestone RE050's do seem to wear early on the edges as they come from factory with less tread on the edges for some bizarre reason, my Fiat wore the RE050's in exactly the same manner). Another cracked rim replaced too.

29000 miles - I have run the current tyres at 2psi higher than recommended, with the result being that I now have even wear patterns, fronts still have 6mm on them rears 3-4mm.

I bet those RFTs aren't cheap to replace :jaw-dropping
You are telling me !!

£300 a piece, fitted, balanced via the main dealer. :frown
I only go there because they appear to take care of the rims.

You say that, but when I last had the tyres changed by a mobile fitter, the guy showed me all the damage on the rim before he started...so that he wouldn't get comeback from the customer afterwards. :cool
I take a picture of each rim beforehand just in case. I have OCD.
I had an MV1 absolutely butchered by Kwik-Fit once, and then an MV2 on my next e46 by another branch. They were company cars so I had no choice, but it was depressing all the same.:mad
