The story with this car started when it became lazy starting, it's used as a weekend car and still had it's original battery which has covered just over 45k Miles.

It had been lazy starting for the last 10-15 times but, had never failed to start. One day it was stopped, left for half and hour and refused to even attempt to crank.

The battery Voltage was checked and found to be just over 11 volt's, it's start capacity was found to be only 65%.

The car was scanned for faults and presented the following on the CAS Module:

A0C1 - Present - CAS: Output, Terminal 50
A0C2 - Present - CAS: Output, Terminal 50 RS
(The above fault's were present after being erased, with KOEO and would not clear
As soon as the start but was engaged, we were now getting
A0B4 - CAS: Engine Start, Starter Operation

The battery was fully recharged over a 2 days period using a CTEK charger which resulted in showing 12.85 Volt's.

(In the meantime the Starter motor was removed from the vehicle as it had seized from low Battery voltage which had caused it to over heat.

The starter was stripped, and showed signs of over heating, after being cleaned, re-assembled, bench tested proved to be fine. It was re-fitted to the vehicle along with the battery still showing its voltage close to 13, yet even after a CAS Re-set, exactly the same is happening. Complete non start and the following stored on the CAS

A0C1 - Present - CAS: Output, Terminal 50
A0C2 - Present - CAS: Output, Terminal 50 RS
A0B4 - CAS: Engine Start, Starter Operation

Also stored in the DME, but not until after a failed start is 278D - Present - Alternator Communication

Anyone have any ideas with this? One thing to add, all Fuse-able links and every fuse behind the glove box has been checked.

Went to car today, fitted a new earth strap from the body to the top engine hoist point on the left hand side of the engine bay, now pleased to say the car started straight away :)

Thanks all and could be a good fix for anyone experiencing the same codes in the future :)
