As the weather turns colder, I have had 3 instances over the past 4 weeks of when starting the vehicle from cold, the Coolant Level orange warning symbol pops up.

If you turn the car off immediately and re-start the warning message does not appear.

Coolant level is ok.

Does the E93 suffer from the same temperamental sensors as the e46 ? This is the exact issue I had on both of my previous e46's.

You must be 'dipstickless' Mark, so there's another sensor to go wrong :frown
There's a funny floating thing when you take the cap off the header tank, but you can get that to read whatever you want. You push down on it and it returns to a different level each time....

I keep checking the oil for mayonnaise expecting the worst each time the sensor goes off.

Actually, I was talking in terms of oil Mark :hihi. So you do have a dipstick?...I know E90's don't.
Got you ! No dipstick, just the i-drive thingy. Just not the same as getting your hands dirty!
