I have a 2007 325i M Sport Convertible with only 12000 miles but am having problems with the metal folding roof.

When you lift and hold the "Roof Down" button the locks disengage and there is slight movement but the rear storage does not open and the roof stalls before its even starts to go back.

I have tried fiddling in the boot to ensure the storage bit is clicked down and the left hand clasp seems less of a click than the right and allow the left side to be lifted a bit.

In 10 attempts over last two weeks the roof has only folded once and then the front got stuck where it meets windshield and needed a bit of manual assistance.

Any ideas - what to do next?

One of the sensors is either duff or is out of alignment. as far as I know, it's not something for DIY so it's off to the local Dealer or Specialist I reckon.....

Any idea where the sensors are located?

I do not want to pay BMW to search for a fault if I can find it and then get them to fix it!

The search is easy - they just read the codes. For the location of the sensors (don't know your model but there are 8 on mine!) have a look on RealOEM?

I had the codes checked and no faults so WTF?

Had similar issue with mine, dealer had to re-align roof to sort sticking issue. I'm not sure if having the car at an angle caused the issue when attempting to open it one time.

Get another person to give the roof a helping hand when opening as this will confirm if it is just sticking.

Took it into BMW and they fixed in minutes with no charge but I did not ask what was wrong in case they charged me!

Never got charged for mine either, like yours it only took minutes for them to resolve so I guess it was probably a spray of lube and tell the customer the roof needed aligning to resolve.
