mute button is volume/on off button im having exactly same problem with idrive tried everything fuses, removing battery, charging battery still nothing doing my head in, dont think reset works unless screen is actually on

mine wouldnt come back on after battery was disconnected when i had to change exhaust manifold [ÂŁ350 by the way]and was working fine before hand so hoping mines easy fix can do without more expense,i read somewhere low battery can affect it i put mine on charge couple hours ago and still charging so hopefully it will be sorted

dont mean to hijack post but think we have same problem,is the ccc unit part of screen or seperate under knob area, mine doesnt have sat nav so there must be different types also does have to be coded connected to the car any info on this process will be of great help how much was ccc unit from bmw

Bazz - The ccc is the cd\dvd player unit and is seperate from the screen. If its dead then its probably the ccc and that unit will need changing. The new unit will have to be coded to the car - I pressume that if you want sat nav then you have to but a ccc with the sat nav built in....not sure if the gps unit is built into the ccc so you will have to check that.

I was hoping that mine was just a fuse but ive checked the fuses and still dead as a dodo...ive found some intructions on removing the ccc unit so i will give it a bash - fingers crossed a cable has come loose...:lol. If all else fails then i will order a unit off ebay.

To remove CCC, you need to remove:
1. Dashboard woodtrim start from passenger's door by prying it up with flat screw driver covered with thin cloth to avoid damaging woodtrim.
2. Remove central lock/hazard button by using a small flat head screw driver while holding up the dash woodtrim
3. Disconnect three connectors in the back to the climate control unit
4. Unscrew two screw holding climate control unit and center trim
5. Remove center trim by pulling it out with car
6. While removing center trim, disconnect two connector in the back to the unit with DSC button
7. Unscrew CCC screws
8. Remove CC unit and disconnect big square connector (about 2 in x 2 in) in the back on your left

I havent tried this procedure yet but plan to do so sometime during the week...sounds quite simple
mines booked in for diognostic coding in morning see if that brings out up if not probably go same route as you let us know how ya get on

got mine sorted today turned out to be m-ask(ccc) unit the garage i took it to does repairs and also bmw salvage luckily (for once) they had a second hand one on shelf which they fitted and recoded all for ÂŁ220 which i thought was good, now ill be able to sleep tonight:D hope you get yours sorted
